HOUSING ASSISTANCE

DIVERSIFIED: The housing programs offered by the Lancaster County Housing and Redevelopment Authorities are designed to respond to the various housing needs of low and moderate income Lancaster County households. We administer programs which benefit homeowners, renters and landlords.

FLEXIBLE: Because we have a number of funding sources which allow us to develop local program policies, we are able to tailor our programs to respond to the specific needs of Lancaster County households.

COORDINATED: We work with for-profit and non-profit housing developers and County agencies to provide a comprehensive approach to the housing problems faced by Lancaster County households.

ASSISTANCE FOR HOMEOWNERS

The Home Repair Program provides funding and technical assistance for the rehabilitation of single-family housing owned and occupied by lower income households.

The  Energy Conservation Program provides funding to enable lower income households to make energy efficiency improvements to their homes.

The Homeowner Assistance Program provides funding to assist lower income home owners with the cost of improvements required by local municipalities.

ASSISTANCE FOR HOMEBUYERS

To encourage home-ownership, the Redevelopment Authority provides funding to the Lancaster Housing Opportunity Partnership for the COMMUNITY HOMEBUYER PROGRAM.

This program assists eligible applicants with the down payment and closing costs associated with purchasing a home.

ASSISTANCE FOR RENTERS

The RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM - often referred to as "Section 8" - helps low income County residents by assisting them with their monthly rent payments.

ASSISTANCE FOR LANDLORDS AND DEVELOPERS

The Rental Housing Program provides assistance for the rehabilitation of existing rental properties as well as for construction of new rental housing units.

ASSISTANCE FOR MUNICIPALITIES

The VACANT PROPERTY REINVESTMENT PROGRAM provides municipal officials with a mechanism to effect the rehabilitation of vacant and blighted properties within their jurisdictions.
