Help Us, Rhonda . . .help, help us Rhonda . . .

Even if you can’t reach the high-note falsetto in the Beach Boys’ classic that her name often brings to mind, getting to know the Redevelopment Authority’s newest employee Rhonda Lapp will give you something to sing about!

Rhonda recently returned to the Lancaster area after living down in Virginia since 1993.  Although she spent her early years in Chester County, Rhonda, a graduate of Lancaster Mennonite High School, moved to Lancaster in 1985.

Rhonda says she found out about the Authority position on the Lancaster Online website, which she was perusing because she desired to move back to Lancaster to be closer to her family.  While her parents still reside in Coatesville, one brother, one sister, one nephew, seven nieces and four great-nephews all live in Lancaster County.  Now so does Rhonda, along with her four cats:  Simon, Gracie, Oliver and a stray she took in named Buddy.

Her previous job was as a consumer loan officer at a credit union in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and she was particularly interested in her current position because it gives her the chance to use her past experience in both lending and accounting.  After interviewing for the job, Rhonda stated very clearly, “This job is for me, and I want it.”  She got it, and she started this past April as the Authority’s Finance Clerk.

Besides spending time with her family and friends, Rhonda enjoys gardening, reading fiction (especially mysteries and courtroom dramas) and NASCAR racing.  She was a fan of the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and now she cheers for his son Dale, Jr.

When asked what she likes the most about Lancaster County, Rhonda answers:  “Family and friends are here, and there’s more to do around here.  It’s home, and it was time to come back.”  Welcome back, Rhonda, and thanks for all your great help!
