Focus On: Ralph Murray, Sr.
FOCUS: How long have you been involved with the Redevelopment Authority? MURRAY: Since 1978. I served on the steering committee [of the Citizen Advisory Council] for public works. I was a citizen’s representative for Region Three. I was asked to serve by the Fulton Township Board of Supervisors. Q: When and how did you become a member of the Authority Board? A: I joined the Board in 1990 as Assistant Treasurer at Randy’s (Patterson, Redevelopment Authority Executive Director) request. I became the Treasurer in 1993. Q: What do you enjoy most about serving on the Board? A: I enjoy going through the resolutions and deciding if they are worthy. . . (Those brought before us). . . are worthy. . .(and) are needed. Q: Where did you work before you retired? A: I worked at Lukens Steel Company in Coatesville, PA for forty years. I retired as a supervisor. Q: What are your personal interests? A: I’m involved in the Lion’s Club, church activities and am an ambulance volunteer. Since the early 1970’s I’ve been a bottle collector, especially medicine ‘bitter’ bottles. Q: What do you think is the biggest challenge facing Lancaster County today? A: I’d have to say the trails. The railroad lines. There’s a lot of interest in all our townships in that.
