Meet the Mikes

Within a week of each other, Mike Urenovitch (pictured above, on left) and Michael Brightbill brought their own particular expertise to the staff of the Lancaster County Redevelopment Authority.

With the migration of Bill and Lisa Fountain to the West Coast and the retirement of long-time Controller Ken Wiest (see article elsewhere in this newsletter), the time had come to recruit a couple of new players for the Redevelopment team to replace the veterans we had lost.

And for the love of Mike(s), that’s what happened!

The first to join our crew, Mike Urenovitch started on July 18, 2005, as the Community Development Finance Specialist.  In this position, Mike is responsible for the financial aspects of several of the Redevelopment Authority’s housing, home improvement and economic development programs.  Some of the programs Mike is involved with include:  Rental Housing (both new construction and rehabilitation), the Home Improvement Program (HIP), the Homeowner’s Assistance Program (HAP), the ACCESS grant program (coordinated through United Disabilities Services), and the American Dream Downpayment Initiative.

Mike earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Kutztown University and a Master’s Degree in Marketing from Drexel University.  Prior to coming to the Authority, he worked for Community Basics, Inc., a Lancaster affordable housing developer, as an Accountant and Financial Analyst.

A Schuylkill County native, Mike moved to Lancaster County three years ago when he married a life-long Red Rose resident.  In their spare time, Mike and his wife enjoy mountain biking and golf.

As one big band vocalist used to say, one good Mike deserves another. . .

Michael Brightbill came aboard as the new Controller on July 24, 2005.  As Controller, Michael handles the financial operation of both the Redevelopment and Housing Authorities, i.e., paying bills, preparing payroll for employees, accounting for all transactions recorded in the general ledger, and preparing financial reports

Even though Michael worked for five and-a-half years as the Business Manager for Donegal School District, he only moved to Lancaster two months ago from his hometown of Lebanon, PA.  He performed financial and operational duties at Donegal.  Michael earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an Accounting emphasis from Shippensburg University.

Married with four sons, ranging in age from 15 to 23, Michael enjoys attending his sons’ sports activities, with two of them playing football and the youngest one playing soccer.  He also likes to play golf - “when I get the chance.”

So welcome to the Redevelopment Authority, gentlemen.  We hope you “mike” yourself right at home!
